Polo Mallets: Craftsmanship That Makes a Difference

Having a unique, lightweight, and well-balanced polo mallet can make a real difference in your game. At Escanaba Polo Mallet Company, every mallet is handcrafted with care, built from years of testing, feedback, and refinement.

Our first designs didn't happen overnight. It took nearly three years of experimenting, building, testing, and improving to develop our two signature mallets. During that time, we sold them at very low prices to players who were willing to give us honest feedback. They did exactly that, and every suggestion helped us make the next version better. We repeated that process until the comments changed from "Here's what I'd improve" to "I wouldn't change a thing." Of course, we still keep tweaking—because that's what startups do.

Escanaba Polo Mallet Company began as an experiment with less than a $500 investment. We wanted to see whether a little ingenuity, hard work, and craftsmanship could grow into a business. Today, we're proud to continue building quality polo equipment while donating the vast majority of our profits to charity and supporting the equestrian community.

We're also expanding into a few new products, but handcrafted polo mallets remain our passion. Whether you're looking for a single mallet or outfitting an entire team, we offer discounts on multiple purchases and have supplied teams in the past.

Every mallet is handcrafted right here in Michigan. We cut and shape our own hardwood heads, straighten our own fiber cane, and assemble each mallet by hand. If we had to, we could walk into the woods, select a beautiful piece of hardwood, bring it back to the workshop, and turn it into a finished mallet. That's the level of craftsmanship we enjoy.

Whenever possible, we source our materials locally. The only exception is the fiber cane, which isn't native to Michigan and must be shipped in. Even then, we're always experimenting. One of our long-term ideas is to see if we can successfully grow fiber cane here ourselves. If that works, we'd be one step closer to building an even more locally sourced mallet—from the ground up.

We're proud of what we make, and we hope you'll enjoy playing with one of our handcrafted mallets. After all, the only thing better than a handmade polo mallet is one that helps you hit the ball exactly where you meant to... at least most of the time.
